About the Author
Dr. Joseph Henrich is the Ruth Moore Professor of Biological Anthropology in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University. His research applies evolutionary theory to understand how human psychology drives cultural evolution and, in turn, how culture has shaped our genetic evolution. With expertise spanning economics, psychology, and anthropology, Dr. Henrich has explored topics such as economic decision-making, social norms, fairness, religion, marriage, prestige, cooperation, and innovation.
Before joining Harvard, he was a professor at the University of British Columbia, holding the Canada Research Chair in Culture, Cognition, and Coevolution. His fieldwork has taken him to Peru, Chile, and the South Pacific, and he has led multiple large-scale comparative projects. He is also the author of The Secret of Our Success (2016) and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Wegner Prize for Theoretical Innovation.
