My favourite quote:
"There is no such thing as a 'self-made' man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us or spoken one word of encouragement to us has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts as well as our success."
- George Burton Adams

You are a new immigrant:
Smart, capable, so highly skilled that you got through the tough selection process.
A person who’s made the very difficult decision to cross a bridge: to leave everything that is familiar and much of what you’ve accomplished on one side - in order to venture into the unknown and start over.
Your English is good. But you are very careful about taking part in the conversations around the kitchen table. Oftentimes, you find yourself just listening, silently.
You’re a hard worker, devoted employee, a kind human being, but much of what and who you are gets lost in the difference between your social behavior and theirs.
You ask yourself often:
Will I ever fit in?
This thought takes a small part of your confidence away every day.
My message to you: You Will Feel Better.
I know, because I have been where you are now.
My choice to move to another country was one of the most difficult decisions in my life.
I have experienced failure and stepped in many puddles on my journey to adapt. I know how big some failures might be.
And, even though I have been in Canada for many years, I’m still learning how to be a part of this new world.
I’ve found mentors, established roots, built a strong family, and achieved significant professional success.
I would love to share this experience and knowledge with you. It is yours for the taking! You can go further than me.
Bet on you!
